History

Dandenong CICC first started in a residential location in 1993 with 6 families and has grown over the years to a significant number now. The first church service held at the premise of where the church is located was conducted by the former president of the CICC Rev. Tangimetua Tangatatutai, and the first minister posted to the church by the CICC General Assembly was the Rev. Teina Tepania. Dandenong has had its fair share of grievances but it has also seen many triumphal ventures in its time and today through the faithfulness of its members past and present, Dandenong continues to shine for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

Administration

The Minister is the chairperson for all meetings except departmental ones. The overall administrator is the Secretary, assisted by the Assistant Secretary. The Treasurer looks after the church’s finances and reports regularly to church meetings

Departments

There are 4 departments; Deacon’s, Women’s Fellowship, Christian Youth and Sunday School. Each department has its own regular programs and activities

Meetings

All departments hold regular individual meetings to monitor the progress of their own programs. The Church as a whole has a combined meeting at the end of every 3 months. In these quarterly meetings, reports are given from the Minister, Secretary, Treasurer and department leaders. Irregular meetings are also convened as and when the need arises

Protocol

Our Cook Islands culture and tradition, especially in the essence of our Cook Islands Christian Church (Religion), is so well depicted in its Sunday service. On communion Sunday, men wear white suits and women wear white dresses. During the actual services, the following are observed:

• Quietness at all times unless part-taking in the hymns
• Mobile phones are to be turned off
• Casual wear (singlets, shorts, etc.) is not preferred

Sermons

Dandenong CICC follows the Scripture Union Bible Reading Plan which sets out daily scripture readings. Sermons are conducted mainly in Cook Islands Maori with some English translation for the sake of our young people who grew up here in Australia and therefore has very little local language (Cook Is Maori). Sermons are prepared and presented by the Minister, Assistant Minister, Deacons and any visiting Minister from outside the Church
